Social discounts

Social discounts on PSO routes

On air routes where the Ministry of Transport purchases services under obligations for public service, the following groups of people are entitled to social discounts:

  • a) Persons who have reached the age of 67 on the day of departure.
  • b) Blind persons who have reached the age of 16.
  • c) Persons who have reached the age of 16 and receive disability pension according to the Act of 28 February 1997 no. 19 on National Insurance (the National Insurance Act) chapter 12, or persons receiving equivalent benefits from another EEA country.
  • d) Pupils over 16 years old at special schools for the hearing impaired.
  • e) Accompanying spouse/cohabitant regardless of age, or a person who must accompany the person entitled to a discount under points a)-d). The person entitled to the discount decides the need for accompaniment.
  • f) Persons under 16 years of age on the day of departure.

Social discounts for the persons mentioned above shall amount to 50% of the maximum normal fare.

  • Social discounts shall not be granted if the trip is paid for by the National Insurance Scheme or another government agency.
  • An adult (over 16 years) is entitled to bring children under two years free of charge as long as the child does not occupy its own seat.
  • When purchasing a ticket, travelers may be required to show the following documentation:
    • Persons mentioned in a) must show identification with photo and date of birth.
    • Persons mentioned in b) or c) must show confirmation or additional information from the National Insurance Scheme or the Norwegian Association of the Blind. Passengers from other EEA countries must show equivalent documentation from their home country.
    • Persons mentioned in d) must show a school ID and a statement from the National Insurance Scheme regarding entitlement to basic benefit or attendance benefit or equivalent benefit from another EEA country.
