Special assistance

Wheelchair and assistance

Wheelchairs and other equipment necessary for everyday life can be brought along at no extra cost. We need to know if the traveller has a manual or electric wheelchair, as well as the size (height + width x length), weight, and possibly the type of battery.

For sending electric wheelchairs, there are limitations on the number of permitted wheelchairs and restrictions regarding battery size. See more detailed information about batteries here

Wheelchair/assistance is divided into three categories:

WCHR (Ramp)

  • The traveller can manage to go up/down stairs and into the plane independently. Assistance is needed to/from the exit/gate.

WCHS (Steps)

  • The traveller can walk to the airplane seat independently. Assistance is needed all the way to the plane, and they must be carried up/down stairs.

WCHC (Cabin seat)

  • The traveller is completely immobile. Assistance/carrying is needed all the way to the airplane seat. To meet safety requirements for both passengers and staff regarding, among other things, evacuation and personal injuries, and so that our airport personnel can be prepared and staffed, we have introduced new procedures. The passenger can weigh a maximum of 120 kg. If the passenger weighs between 90 and 120 kg, this must be stated when booking.

Requests for wheelchairs/assistance are approved when the traveller receives confirmation/receipt by email for the flight booking.
