Cancellation Protection in Case of Illness
If unexpected illness should occur
Acute illness can strike quickly and indiscriminately you, your travel companion, or someone in your close family. Therefore, we want to offer our customers cancellation protection. This cancellation protection is only available for travel only with Widerøe, not in combination with other airlines
The cancellation protection must be purchased at the same time as you book the flight tickets, and the cost will be charged to the specified credit card.
Terms:
- Cancellation must be made before the departure time. This must be done via the link in the email with the receipt for the electronic ticket. Ensure that you always receive a confirmation of your cancellation.
- The insurance sum is only paid out in case of acute illness or death of you or a closely related family member (spouse/registered partner, cohabitant, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, grandchild, parents-in-law, siblings-in-law, children-in-law) residing in an EU/EEA country, or another travel companion if only 2 people are travelling on the same booking, and both have cancellation protection through us
- Pregnancy or childbirth is not covered by the cancellation protection
- A medical certificate for acute illness/death certificate MUST be attached to the compensation claim, and an account number for payment must be provided
- Quarantine is not defined as acute illness
- The medical certificate must be dated before departure or within 3 days after the scheduled travel date, and it MUST state that the flight cannot be taken
- Partially used trips cannot be refunded
- Claims for payment must be sent by email to support@wideroe.no no later than one week after the dated medical certificate. Travel documents as well as medical certificate/death certificate must be attached
- Deductible of NOK 200,- per person. In addition, our handling fees and other charges (postal delivery, cancellation protection, booking fee, etc.) are not refunded. In other words, only the flight tickets minus NOK 200,- per person are refunded
- For refunds, we follow the airline's own procedures, and we note that the refund process may take up to 2 weeks
